Getting good weekend jobs is not easy. Instead of taking a job that will pay you minimum wages, you can get prepared to find a much better job where you can earn more, more importantly you can accumulate the work experience that will help you find a high payment full time job!

1. Identify your skill set from the employer’s point of view. For instance , if you have done a school project or helped with a research project for your professor, tell people that you have programming skills to build a computer system. If this system has web pages, then tell your future boss that you have built an online computer system. These are the business terms (instead of calculation module, for example, for the research).

2. Stay focused. Clearly tell people who you are and what you can do. For example, you are a computer software developer that has built an online software system, or a legal assistant that has worked on a project to resolve a legal issue.

3. For each resume, mention only one set of skills, such as computer programming. If you have multiple skill sets, prepare separate resumes. This is a standard way for people to look for jobs. For example, popular job search sites, such as Hot Jobs and Monster, allow you to post multiple resumes and cover letters.

4. Go online. Hot Jobs, Monster, Dice are all the great job sites where tons of jobs are available. These sites are also where employers and recruiters (job agencies) pay hundreds of dollars each month in order to be able to search for your resume!

5. Learn the required skills of preparing your resume, phone interview and in person interviews. For example, a common mistake many people make is to put their education at the top of the resume. This is a deadly mistake: You are telling your future boss that you have NO experience and you have NO confidence for this job.
